St. Patrick’s Parish in Burin, Newfoundland and Labrador has suffered a major theft, reports CBC News. The safe, which was stolen from the basement of the Church was extraordinarily heavy. As to how the thieves managed to lift and remove the safe, the parish priest, Rev. Critch is stumped. The theft was discovered during one of the  Church’s Sunday bingo nights. There was no sign of forced entry and Critch presumes that the safe must have been taken during the Saturday afternoon service. The money in question: roughly four thousand dollars which was to be used for a fundraiser. Due to the nature of the theft, the insurance policy the Church has will be covering the loss, but the Church community feels rocked by the occurrence.
