On late Wednesday evening a call was made to alert authorities that a fire had broke out at St. Philip’s Parish in Richmond, Ottawa, reports the Ottawa Citizen.
The fire mostly affected the church’s steeple and large cross at the top. Firefighters came around 9:18 p.m. and began to assess the situation. There were no fire hydrants in the surrounding area and so trucks had to be brought to help put out the fire.
There were no injuries or people inside the church at the time. The steeple and cross were the main affected areas, with the cross eventually crashing down to the ground.
The fire was announced under control around 11 p.m. and an investigation will happen to determine the outcome of the cause of the fire.
