On August 13, St. Michael’s Cemetery WWII Ukrainian monument was graffitied, as well as a statue outside of the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex building, reports CTV News Edmonton. The graffiti, found on the monument wall is in red spray paint that reads, “Nazi Monument 14th Waffen SS.” The Edmonton City Police, and the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy who man the cemetery are working together on the incident, which has now been identified as a hate crime. The statue of Roman Shukhevych located at the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex, was graffitied with the words, “Actual Nazi.” The police force in line with the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy are working to resolve the incident.
