This past Sunday, the St. Joseph’s Basilica in Edmonton was graffitied with swastikas, reports The Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton.
Sadly, Sunday, January 26, St. Joseph’s was the target of racist graffiti found on the main entrance and another sign. This is very distressing knowing that the following day is recognized as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Video footage of the surveillance camera had caught the incident. The Edmonton Police Service will be reviewing it in hopes of finding the perpetrator(s).
The Basilica will have the graffiti removed as soon as they can, as professional cleaning will be required.
The Archdiocese of Edmonton condemns this action, and all actions of hate and bigotry.
