Arson at Our Lady of Mount Carmel results in a fatality, reports The Sault Star. The arson of the Church resulted in the death of Bernard Agawa as confirmed by the Sault Ste. Marie Fire department. Agawa who was 65, was a resident of the area.The perpetrator has been arrested upon the realization that the fire was suspicious. Thomas Marttinen has been charged with manslaughter and arson in which life has been endangered. The Church, located on Cathcart Street, is a historic building, built in 1910 and closed in 2010. It will be renovated by Bichler Property Management and converted into a rooming house.
