As reported by SaltWire Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church’s tabernacle in Bay St. George, Newfoundland, had been stolen only to be returned in a state of damaged beyond repair. The tabernacle is worth roughly $5,000. The perpetrators broke into the Church stealing not only the tabernacle but a television and wall mount. Later the next morning, the ciborium, tabernacle and consecrated hosts were found scattered, and smashed. The parish priest noted at the time that there were two men leaving the building that evening. The RCMP is continuing their investigation.
