In Clarenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, a parishioner noticed that the Our Lady of Fatima Parish suffered severe damages to its’ windows caused by vandals. Vandals had smashed roughly seventeen windows. The upper level worship area of the Parish remained mostly unaffected with only three windows smashed. The main level of the Parish had every single window broken, along with the windows in the basement level of the Parish. Not only did the vandals smash the windows but also threw objects into the windows, adding further damage to the Parish’s interior. The Sunday School room for the children who attend the Parish’s program was also damaged. The room is covered in glass and the television set was broken as well. The Parish’s kitchen was also left in disarray. Overall damages result in over ten thousand dollars. The Rev. Brian Colbert explains the incident, stating that the damages left him feeling devastated. The Parish had also been previously broken into before. RCMP were called to the scene. RCMP ask for anyone with information to contact them. Plans for repairs will take several weeks and will be professionally done.
