A statue of Mother Mary had been defaced at St. Patrick’s Convent Square in St. John’s, Newfoundland, as reported by SaltWire. While not being investigated by police, the woman who found the statue gave her statement explaining how upsetting it was to have found the statue in that condition. At the same time the Convent had donated money to the city for affordable housing units. The interviewee expressed disdain at the fact that while money had been donated, the statue had been overlooked.
