A resident of Washabuck, Nova Scotia happened to be driving home and passed by the historic 115 year old Holy Rosary Church. She noticed that the church had some strange black marks on the walls and on the grass, she pulled over to check it out reports Saltwire.

Carmie McLean went to inspect the black marks and deduced that it looked like someone had thrown gasoline on the wall of the church and on the ground and had set it on fire. The damage seems minimal and a coat of paint may be fine to cover up the black marks.

The next day Baddeck RCMP were called and came to investigate the incident.

The church does not have regular services but still holds sacraments like weddings and special masses like funerals, as well as community gatherings. The church is a staple to the community and McLean wonders why anyone would have wanted to burn down the historic church.
