During a church service at St. Alphonsus Church in Windsor, a man attacked the deacon who was performing a service, reports the WindsorStar.

Officers had to taser the man who reportedly had superhuman strength, was chanting and yelling. He went up to the deacon and attacked him. Officers had to restrain him multiple times while trying to arrest him.

The deacon, Deacon Gerard Charette of the church explained that the man really could have hurt someone and that he was uncontrollable.

The man faces pending charges and it is unknown whether he was on substances that caused the attack.

Officers arrived minutes after receiving the call, noting that congregants were filing out of the church and children were crying and distraught.

The man had locked his arms around the deacon in a super tight grip and would not let go. He could be heard chanting and was sweating while holding the deacon.

Charette states that he was also weeping and seemed to be stuck in his own world. The police arrived while the attack was going on and ordered the man to let go of the deacon, the man ignored the order and that is when the police intervened.

When the man let go of the deacon, the fight turned to the man and the officers. Several officers had to fight the man noticing the strength the man possessed.

Sgt. Matthew D’Asti at the time stated that the officers felt it necessary to then use the taser. Then when he was handcuffed, he still tried to escape, however, police gained control of him and were able to remove him from the scene. He was then taken to the hospital for assessment.

Deacon Charette stated that the man’s other pastor from his church would see what else they could do to help the man. Charette states that with the church and the congregation, pastor and the help of the Lord, all will work out in the end for the man.
