On Canada Day in Nelson, British Columbia, the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate has been targeted with graffiti reports The Nelson Daily. Following the discovery of remains of children at Former Residential School sites across the country, the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate and other Churches have been targeted by vandals. Many Churches have been burned or vandalized as public reactions grow. The Cathedral was splashed and splattered with orange-red paints and signs on the railings of the stairs. The signs state the message, “Every Child Matters,” and “No Pride in Genocide,” along with, “CANCELCANADADAY.” The police are currently investigating the incident.
