Eglise Sainte-Marie in Church Point, Nova Scotia suffered a break-in with theft and damages, reports Global News.

The church, being permanently closed and considered a heritage site, still is in the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth (Saltwire). It is susceptible to damages, break-ins and regular wear-and-tear.

Officers of the Meteghan RCMP answered the call of a break-in on the night of September 17. Once on the scene they saw various damages to doors, the donation box had been smashed in, many things had been stolen including chalices and coins.

The RCMP forensic identification service has been enlisted to aid in the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Meteghan RCMP (902-645-2326) or Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477).
