Bishop at Sacred Heart Cathedral Hospitalized After Attack in Kamloops, British Columbia

In Kamloops, British Columbia, Bishop David Monroe suffered a violent assault from a mentally ill man in his Parish’s rectory, reports CTV News. The assailant, who is said to have a serious mental illness used weapons in this attack. The only other priest present rushed to help the Bishop. He too suffered an injury and called for help. The Bishop was rushed to the hospital and the attacker was found later in the evening. The Bishop forgave his attacker and believes that forgiveness is for all. The attacker was charged for the incident, however, due to his mental illness the charges have been dropped.
