On Canada Day in Guelph, Ontario, vandals smeared red paint and hand prints on the steps of the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, reports The Star. Across the country many Churches have been targeted on Canada Day as a reaction from the announcement of the remains being discovered at multiple Former Residential Schools. The Churches have been splattered with red and orange paints, hand prints, messages and signs. The Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate was running a rally for the remains of the children being found when they happened upon the vandalized scene. The participants were not part of the vandalism. Guelph Police ask that anyone with information contact them.
