November 2010

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church was among the three places of worship affected by graffiti, reports the Brampton Guardian.

Offensive graffiti could be found on three buildings, two churches, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic church, the North Bramalea Presbyterian church and the Brampton Jamatkhana Ismaili prayer hall. Peel Regional Police have deemed the graffiti worthy of hate crime status and hope that anyone might come forward if they saw anything.

The graffiti itself was not a targeted offence against any one religious group or faith, rather that the same anti-religious nature of the graffiti had been found on all three of the buildings.

Police ask that anyone who sees anyone acting in a manner characterized as hostile or suspicious to report it and anyone with information pertaining to these offences to contact them at 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau 905-453-2121, ext. 2133 or Peel Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
