Toronto, ON December 15, 2021 – On November 23, the Catholic Civil Rights League (CCRL) launched its Church Attacks Database, accessible from www.ccrl.ca  cataloging attacks against Catholic churches in Canada ranging from the breaking of stained-glass windows, to acts of desecration and church burnings.

The League’s press release was well received.

On November 29, The BC Catholic published “Catholic Civil Rights League launches church attack database” by Terry O’Neill.

On December 1, Michael Swan’s piece “Database tracks attacks on churches in Canada” was published in the Catholic Register.

The CCRL needs help in two very important ways. First, we need Canadians to help us in building our database by reporting incidents of which we are not aware, or by providing us with additional information and photos of existing entries. Church attacks in your community can easily be reported to us by clicking on the link, Report an Attack at a Church or Religious Site from the database in www.ccrl.ca.

Second, the maintenance of the Church Attacks Database is costly. If you are financially able, we humbly request that you add the CCRL in your Advent and yearend donations. An online donation can be simply made by clicking here or by mailing a cheque to the CCRL at 2305 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON, M6S 1P1, or by calling the office at (416) 466-8244 or 1-844-722-2275 (CCRL).

The CCRL is providing Canada’s only nationwide database that tracks and records attacks against our churches and other Catholic properties. We also wish to maintain a record of arrests and convictions from such attacks.

It is within our mandate as Canada’s only lay group committed to defending the Church from anti-Catholic defamation, and indeed anti-Catholic violence.

May you have a blessed Advent.

We appeal to those of you who are financially able to help us in our mission by sending a donation to the CCRL by clicking here or by mailing a cheque to the CCRL at 2305 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON, M6S 1P1, or by calling the office at (416) 466-8244 or 1-844-722-2275 (CCRL).
