St. Mary’s Church in Montague, Prince Edward Island has suffered multiple break-ins and theft, reports Saltwire.com.
RCMP have opened two investigations into the break-in and theft of churches over the last several months.
Not only St. Mary’s Parish, but St. George’s Roman Catholic Church had also been targeted on December 29.
Some time in late November, St. Mary’s Parish had been broken into and a safe containing money and documents had been taken. Before this break in, another had occurred as well.
Debbie Johnston, a councillor had brought this issue up when having received an RCMP report.
Staff Sgt. Howard Fitzpatrick also explained that the person(s) responsible for these actions had to have known exactly what they were doing. Fitzpatrick states that the investigators have an idea of the possibility of who the perpetrators might be.
While there have been no charges as of yet, the investigation is ongoing.
