The reverend of St. Joseph Cathedral noticed red painted hand prints on the doors of the church building, reports CBC News.

On Friday, the reverend Cornelius Ngurukwem, had been cutting grass and noticed red hand print graffiti on the doors of the church. He states that he was not sure who would have done this action, only that emotion may have been very high and the motivation for the action.

On the Saturday, an individual had come forward to the reverend and explained that they had done it. Ngurukwem stated that the individual felt remorse and offered to clean it as soon as possible. The reverend was happy that the individual came forward, and offered them advice and prayers.

A town councillor of Fort Smith, Louise Beaulieu, who is Metis, states that she understands the high emotions and anger that people feel towards the Catholic Church but says that fire and vandalism are not the answer to these problems.
