On August 3 during 2021, St. Augustine of Canterbury Church’s Indigenous Every Child Matters display was arsoned, according to the Catholic Register.
The decorated display was in front of the church and was targeted by arsonist(s). The police answered the call at around 3 a.m. on August 3. The police sergeant Kirby Sarasas explained that he believed the fire was intentionally set. He ruled the fire as suspicious in nature.
The investigation into motivation has been opened.
The Catholic Register names this incident of arson among the list of other arsons and vandalism attacks during the 2021 church burnings of Canadian churches.
