On May 11 in Saddle Lake, Alberta, an Atco trailer was set on fire at the Sacred Heart Cemetery reports the Edmonton Journal. The fire was deemed suspicious by the St. Paul RCMP.

The trailer was used in an investigation started by the Acimowin Opaspiw Society. The Society was looking into the historical site of the Sacred Heart residential school. The trailer’s location was roughly 146 km away from the site.

The investigation has included officers inquiring with the local neighbourhood and checking any surveillance footage to see if there was any indication of who could have perpetrated the arson. The RCMP’s forensic identification service and the fire investigators have also been working through this case.

The St. Paul RCMP is asking for anyone with any information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
