Toronto, ON April 10, 2020 – In response to our Holy Week message and call to action, supporters and friends of the Catholic Civil Rights League (CCRL) are placing crucifixes in their windows and on their front porches to demonstrate a public witness to our faith during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is our outward sign of the veneration of the cross.
For Eastertide we propose hanging banners reading Christ is Risen or He arose and appeared to many.
We propose that League supporters and friends approach their pastors to have banners hung on church facades and that parishioners are encouraged to do the same.
Let us continue to evangelize in these difficult days.
A coronavirus from Wuhan has infected the world. Let us avoid becoming as oppressed as Chinese Cathoilcs in response.
Let us remember that we are citizens of that other Kingdom, the heavenly Jerusalem, and that Jesus Christ is our King, to whom we owe a greater allegiance.
In the face of these current limitations, let’s not hide our light under bushel baskets.
