After a more than five-year hiatus, regional public health nurses will be returning to schools at the Halton Catholic District School Board to administer the HPV vaccine to Grade 8 female students.
During a sometimes raucous board meeting Tuesday evening (Nov. 5) — in front of a rare packed audience that was mostly against allowing the vaccine to be given on board property — trustees voted 6-2 in favour of reversing a policy hat had not permitted vaccinations against the human papilloma virus (HPV).

As parents have the first responsibility for the health and education of their children, the League urges that the Ontario bishops’ message on the Gardasil vaccine be read, and that no vaccine be given without parental consent.
